Press Release Summary: Dave Wells Properties is constructing new homes for the over 55s in Poole
Press Release Body: DEMOLITION of a run-down charity building in Poole is underway and will pave the way for flats for the over 55s.
Bournemouth's biggest private landlord Dave Wells says demand for rental accommodation for older residents is growing as they struggle to meet high mortgage and council tax payments.
The latest development will replace Edward House in Talbot Drive, a dilapidated SCOPE care home, with 19 one and two-bed flats.
Dave said: "Demand for this type of accommodation is growing. It's becoming increasingly difficult for someone on a pension to live in and maintain a four-bed house and garden.
"We're coming across people who can barely afford the cost of living. Some that own their own properties are opting to sell up now in favour of giving the proceeds to their children and moving into rental accommodation. They simply don't want their legacy to go to the state."
The new flats, which have been designed by architect Harriplan, will be modern and well insulated, with private parking and a buggy store for mobility scooters. It's the first Dave Wells Properties development with lifts.
The project, which is adjacent to Talbot Heath, is expected to be completed by next summer.
Dave added: "This will be one of our best developments. The views of the surrounding countryside will be amazing and the flats will be spacious and airy."
